Wrens win at Liversedge

Rainworth Miners Welfare 3 (Sweeny,Jemson,Trimmer)

Liversedge 1 (OG)

Gordon Foster, 8 November 2009

RAINWORTH maintained their push for promotion to the UniBond League at Liversedge with their eighth successive league victory in their first Premier Division season.
It was not the Wrens' best first half performance at Clayborn, but they hit back from a goal down to turn round 2-1 ahead.
Brendan Sweeney cancelled out Sedge's opening goal with the equaliser, and then when Cameron Fearon embarked on a surging run into the home penalty area he was unceremoniously brought down. The defender escaped without a card, but Nigel Jemson buried the spot kick to record his first goal for the Wrens.
Jemson had been withdrawn when Rainworth won a late second penalty, so this time youngster Lewis Trimmer took the responsibility and followed suit with a successful conversion for his first Rainworth goal since his arrival in mid-October.
